Video: SRT UPS reports Battery Charger Event, Event Code 142

Issue:
The UPS reports: Battery Charger Event – event code 142 on the UPS LCD display or in the NMC event logs



Product Line:
Smart-UPS SRT UPS Models excluding Smart-UPS Ultra models: SRTL2K and SRTL3K and SRTL5K

Cause:
This event may be caused by a blown charger fuse, or bad batteries.

Resolution:
To determine the cause of this behavior, perform the following troubleshooting steps:

• With the UPS input connected to AC mains, disconnect all the batteries in the system: all internal batteries and any external batteries, if used. Refer to the user manual of the appropriate SRT UPS model to disconnect the batteries.
• Using the UPS LCD display, navigate to the Status section, and in the Battery menu, select Voltage. Refer to the user manual of the appropriate SRT UPS model to navigate the UPS LCD menu.

Note: You do not need to perform measurements on the UPS charger or battery terminals.

• If the voltage displayed on the UPS LCD display is below the “Voltage level” (refer to the below values), the charger fuse is blown and the UPS requires replacement.
• If the voltage displayed on the UPS LCD display is at, or above, the “Voltage level, the batteries need to be replaced.

Once the alarms are cleared, it is recommended to update the UPS firmware to the latest version. Refer to FA164737 for updating the UPS firmware.

Models	Voltage level
SRT Li-Ion 1-1.5kVA SRTL1000RMXLI(-NC) or SRTL1500RMXLI(-NC)	If under 48V, the UPS should be replaced. If at or above 48V, the battery should be replaced.
SRT Li-Ion 2.2-3kVA SRTL2200RMXLI(-NC) or SRTL3000RMXLI(-NC)	If under 48V, the UPS should be replaced. If at or above 48V, the battery should be replaced.
SRT 2.2kVA models	If under 80V, the UPS should be replaced; If at or above 80V, the battery should be replaced.
SRT 3kVA models	If under 100V, the UPS should be replaced; If at or above 100V, the battery should be replaced.
SRT 5-6kVA models	If under 200V, the UPS should be replaced; If at or above 200V, the battery should be replaced.
SRT 8-10kVA models	If under 200V, the UPS should be replaced; If at or above 200V, the battery should be replaced.
