How does an Altivar Drive detect an Input Phase Loss (PHF)?
Issue:
Altivar Process Drives input phase loss detection
Product Line:
Altivar Process Drive
Resolution:
The ATV6x0 and ATV9x0 drives monitor voltage on the input terminals and they can be displayed on the keypad or in SoMove.
However the Phase loss detection does not use those measured values. Instead the drive monitors the noise (ripple) on the DC bus and will trip if the distortion exceeds a preset level.
The actual level will change based on the voltage range of the drive.
When a motor is lightly loaded the ripple may be within acceptable levels, but as the load increases the drive may trip.
PHF can still be disabled by changing the PHL setting, but this should only be done for testing, or in specific applications when approved by Schneider Electric.
