Ecostruxure Process Expert [2020R2] How to Configure P2P communication between M580 & Safety M580 Controllers

This document explains step wise procedure on how to Configure P2P communication between M580 & Safety M580 Controllers in Ecostruxure Process Expert 2020R2.

1. Prepare the controllers by providing “server memory start” and “server Memory length” which will be available in Properties of Controllers in Topology. Basically those are Starting Memory address & length of memory registers.



2. Created two folders named on controllers. Here it was considered to transfer a INT Value from Safety Controller to Normal M580 controller. So created instances from DINInt & DOUTInt respectively.



3. Perform Edit linking as shown below.



4. Assign and generate in respective controllers.

5. Right click on normal M580 Controller Project executable and perform Communication mapping as shown below.



6. On the communication mapping right click and select “Map variables” and drag and drop from left to right.



7. After drag & drop , User can see the screen as in below picture.



8. Build all both the projects.



9. Now in safety controller, User need to prepare for Data transfer from safety area to Process area. So create a input variable in Interface of Process Area as shown below.



10. Now create an output variable in Interface of Safety area. Then click on effective parameter, select process in Popup window and select the Process Tag as shown below.



11. Now User can see that safety tag is linked with Process tag, thus data can be transferred from safety to Process area.



12. Just connect the process tag to the block created as shown below.

13. In normal M580 program, the output of move block will have the value of safety variable and can be used in logic.



This completes the procedure and in this manner, User can manage P2P communication between Normal M580 & Safety M580 Controllers in Ecostruxure Process Expert 2020R2.
