Why does the PowerChute Network Shutdown Agent display a warning in the browser when I first log in?
Issue:
The PowerChute Network Shutdown Agent has a “self-signed” security certificate. This means that when you access your Agent installation, your browser will display warnings about the validity and security of the Agent site.
Product:
PowerChute Network Shutdown
Environment:
Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge
Cause:
When opening the PowerChute Network Shutdown Web User Interface for the first time, your web browser will display an error "Your connection is not private" (Chrome and Edge) or a warning "Potential Security Risk Ahead" (Firefox). This message is displayed because PowerChute Network Shutdown uses a self-signed SSL certificate for secure communications between the browser and the PowerChute Network Shutdown server application running in the background.
Solution:
It is safe to click the 'Advanced' button and then select "Proceed to localhost (unsafe)" (Chrome and Edge) or "Accept the Risk and Continue" (Firefox). This message will not reappear the next time you access the Web UI from the same web browser. You can also see the attached Security Handbook for instructions on how to replace the Self-Signed security certificate.
