EcoStruxure Transformer Expert is suitable for new transformers, provided that Water Content of Paper (WCP) graphs are not utilized in the first 6 months of the transformer's life.
The WCP is estimated over time using Schneider Electric's Diffusion Model, which takes into account moisture mass flow in the model. This is done based on a finite-difference model which calculates the movement of moisture from the oil to the paper and deeper through layers of paper. This model requires moisture in oil to reach relative equilibrium with the moisture in the paper insulation. This process for new oil takes up to 6 months to stabilize. During this time, WCP graphs may not be accurate.
