Schneider Electric joins landmark project to provide first ever green energy offshore charging station for maritime vessels at anchorage off the Orkney Islands

Consortium to develop and deliver a green energy-based mooring point and charging station for hybrid cruise ships which cannot berth at Hatston Pier   Vessels using this world-first cold-ironing buoy will reduce emissions and improve air quality whilst at anchorage   Project has received funding from the Department of Transport through its Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition Round 4 (CMDC4), a £206m initiative focused on developing technology to decarbonise the UK’s maritime sector.
