How to Import Logical Device Templates for EM4800 and BCPM in PME 7.2.2 and PME 8.x?

Issue
How to Import Logical Device Templates for EM4800 and BCPM in PME 7.2.2 and PME 8.x

Product Line
PME 7.2.2 and PME 8.x

Cause
Customer wants to use logical device templates for EM4800 and BCPM from SPM 7.0.1 into PME 7.2.2 or PME 8.0 server. However, that logical device template is not compatible with PME 7.2.2 and PME 8.0.

Environment
Import Logical Device Templates for EM4800 and BCPM in PME 7.2.2 and PME 8.x.

Resolution

The logical device template that customers are using is from the SPM 7.0.1 driver. If that is the case, it will not work in PME 7.2.2 and PME 8.x, as-it-is.

Before Importing, you need to create the Logical Device Type using the Logical Device Type Editor (Management Console: Tools->Logical Device->Logical Device Type Editor).

In the Logical Device type includes all the measurements that each circuit supports (Current, Voltage etc). An easy way to identify the list of measurements is by referring the Output Measurement Column (column F) of the logical device import template for a particular circuit (like circuit 01, 02 etc) (Note: All circuits have the same set of measurements).

Once the Logical Device Type is created you can import the template.

More information about how to use Logical Devices is available in the PME User Manual in the link below.
