Resolution
Device licenses are required for all devices(physical devices) that connected to PME.
Device TypesLicense required
Physical DevicesYes
Device Created with Device Type Editor(DTE) or Modbus Device Importer(MDI) Yes
Logical DevicesNo

NOTE 1:
  • At least one device license must be activated in the system for PME to be able to communicate with a device.
  • Drivers created with the Device Type Editor or Modbus Device Importer(MDI) require mid-range (M) type device licenses.
  • Logical devices are not included as devices in the device licensing count.
NOTE 2:
  • The license types (E, M, S) are for locales (countries other than the US, Canada, and India) where individual licenses are sold. For locales (the US, Canada, India) where license bundles are sold, a device license is valid for any device type.
NOTE 3: Device License per Device Type
  • E = Entry-Range Device License
  • M = Mid-Range Device License
  • S = High-End Device License
