I imported an SDE to a new computer and my IO points are not there
I imported an SDE to a new computer and part of my configuration is not there, my I/O points are missing. What’s happening?
The main 2 reasons for that would be:
  • The new Geo SCADA Expert (GSE) installation does not have one or more drivers used in the original application. Some drivers are installed by default by the installation wizard and those drivers change over time. For example, prior to ClearSCADA 2017, Modbus Simple driver and OPC Simple Client drivers were installed by default, now they are not. They are still available but need a custom installation.
  • Security settings. That may happen when importing an SDE file that contains only part of the application. The security settings may be different for different objects, so, when this happens, it is recommended to logon as “super-user” and then import the SDE. As the “super-user” can “see” all the objects, the security settings can now be changed according to the end user’s needs.
