M580 Hot Standby (non Safety) : How to complete offline modification with allowed application mismatch i.e. without taking the system down

Issue :

On a M580 Hot Standby system (non safety), how can I complete some modifications that require to be offline without having to take the whole control system down?

Resolution :

The procedure presented here can be found in the Control Expert help file in the following place:

Modicon M580 Platform -> Configuring the Controller in Control Expert -> Working with M580 Hot Standby System -> Offline Application Modification with Allowed Application Mismatch

The following setting is mandatory for this procedure to work

In this example we have only the first section of the code that is executed by both the Primary and Standby, so the block was added to the first section.

This is a modification that can be done online on the system. Just be sure that both the Primary and Standby are equal when you are done.

For this example, a Modbus device will be added in the DTM browser.

NOTE : only offline modification that can be built using "Build Changes" should be attempted. Any modifications requiring a "Rebuild All" might not work with this procedure and will require taking the system down to apply.
