OFS / OPC UA Server Expert - Accessing the SAFE namespace

Correction for FA339948:
Title:

Is it possible to read variables directly from the M580 Safety CPU safe task using OFS or OPC UA Server Expert?

Answer:

Yes. M580 Safety CPU variables can be accessed through OFS or OPC UA Server Expert when the required variables are available from the configured symbol source.

For OFS V3.61 or later, Safety variables can be read using the uppercase “SAFE.” prefix, for example:

SAFE.bool1

Write access is possible only when the M580 Safety CPU is operating in Maintenance mode. For OPC UA Server Expert, the namespace is case-sensitive. Use the lowercase “safe.” prefix, for example:

safe.bool1

Using the uppercase prefix “SAFE.” in OPC UA Server Expert may prevent the variable from being resolved or accessed.

The FAQ should therefore clarify the following distinction:

OFS: SAFE.{tag}

OPC UA Server Expert: safe.{tag}
