Why does the PLC Simulator controller HALT when the scan time exceeds 4 times the MAST cycle time of the application?
This is a normal behavior.
When running the simulator, the processor used is the one from the computer, which has many more services to deal with.
Simulator is running on your PC with numerous processes running at the same time.
The watchdog on the simulator is activated only to detect infinite loops.
For instance, in this example an infinite loop was created on purpose , below the mast cycle time and watchdog value leading to CPU HALT in simulation mode :
