It is recommended to put the UPS in bypass to keep the load ON. Depending on if you have an Service Bypass Unit (SBU) or not, follow the steps below.
Put UPS in Bypass with an SBU:
- Command UPS into bypass by going to the following menu options. Home > Control > UPS > Put UPS in Bypass
- Set the UPS Manual bypass switch to On
- Set the SBU Switch to Maintenance
Remove UPS from Bypass with an SBU:
- Set the UPS manual bypass switch to off.
- Ensure UPS output is on. Home > Control > UPS > Turn UPS On
- From Output On, Put UPS in Bypass. Home > Control > UPS > Put UPS in Bypass
- Set the SBU Switch to Normal.
- Verify the UPS is Online, and the load is reported correctly on the display. Take UPS out of command Bypass.
Put UPS in Bypass without an SBU:
- Command UPS into bypass by going to the following menu options. Home > Control > UPS > Put UPS in Bypass
- Set the UPS Manual bypass switch to On
Remove UPS from Bypass without an SBU:
- Set the UPS manual bypass switch to off.
- The UPS will automatically transfer to Temporary Bypass then to Online
- Verify the UPS is Online, and the load is reported correctly on the display.
Step 1 - Remove the RIM
- Identify the RIM (Redundant Intelligence Module), which is the IM with the LED off.
- Remove the RIM from the UPS.
Expected Result: The following alarms should clear:
- 3B1B
- 3B83
- RIM Initializing
Step 2 - Verify Remaining Alarms
- After removing the RIM, the following alarms will typically remain:
- 1421 Alarm
- Invalid Configuration (only one IM installed)
Step 3 - Clear the 1421 Alarm
- Unscrew the display assembly (see attached document on how to remove the display).
- Disconnect only the One-Line Display cable from the display.
- Wait a few seconds.
- Reconnect the One-Line Display cable.
Expected Result: The One-Line Display should remain off and the 1421 alarm should clear.
Step 4 - Reinstall the RIM
- Reinstall the RIM.
- Allow the RIM to initialize completely.
Step 5 - Restore the One-Line Display (Optional)
If you need the One-Line Display to function again:
- Unscrew and slightly remove the MIM (Main Intelligence Module), which is the IM with the LED on, to force a control transfer.
- Wait for the transfer process to complete.
- Insert and screw back in the IM. Wait for initialization to finish.
Expected Result: The One-Line Display should return and operate normally.
NOTE: If none of these steps worked to clear the alarms, please perform a proper power cycle to attempt to clear them another way. You can follow this FAQ: https://www.se.com/us/en/faqs/FAQ000274118/
Once you clear the alarm, please upgrade the UPS Firmware to 18.0 or greater. If you are unable to clear the alarm with a power cycle, please proceed with the firmware upgrade, then clear the alarm.
