Environment
  • All serial numbers
  • All firmware revisions below v6.0.X
  • Using various web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Firefox

Cause

This issue stems from how browsers open concurrent connections to web pages.  This technique is used to decrease the time in which a web page loads by accessing multiple connections with the web server.  The network card can handle (5) concurrent connections at once, however, there may be a restriction on the browser specific to embedded devices that limits these connections.

Resolution

By default, IE8 and Firefox 3 have the ability to open 6 concurrent connections.  Firefox has the ability to change this setting (about:config, network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server)*.  IE8 currently doesn't offer an easily accessible interface but the change can be made via the Windows Registry. Please contact Microsoft for instructions on how to make this change.*

APC is not responsible for any unexpected results while accessing the about:config screen or adjusting registry settings.  Please do so at your own risk.
