What is Safe Torque Off (STO) in the Variable Speed Drives?
Safe Torque Off (STO) is a method the variable speed drive (VSD) is prevented from producing current or voltage to the connected motor.
It is used in Emergency Stop schemes where the motor will coast to stop.
The STO prevents direct IGBT devices from firing for safe operation.
