Can the customer convert a Masterpact NW ACB with Micrologic trip unit 6.0P into a Masterpact NW Switch-Disconnector with HF Breaking capacity?
Switch-Disconnectors have been certified in accordance to IEC 60947-3 (Switching and Controlling) while the normal ACB has been certified and tested in accordance with IEC 60947-2 (protection applications). Accordingly, each switchgear has a different application and have been tested against different standards. At the same time, although there is no mechanical differences in their mechanical mechanisms, there is a difference in the contacts materials of the devices. Accordingly, the performance of breaking is different between a switch-disconnector and a circuit breaker.
