What will happen if the contactor is always kept energized?
There is no feedback about a potential issue when the contactor's coil is continuously energized.
We would say the service life is indefinite if the electrical and environmental conditions always remain within published specifications.
The contactor’s life is measured in operations, not time.
If the contactor is almost never operated (switching), the power contacts will never be cleaned properly.
Therefore, the risk of contact’s corrosion is higher than in a standard application.
