Issue with Easergy P5 Modbus RTU Communication
Issue
Easergy P5 through PAS600 communication loss with PME when BMS is running.

Product Line
PME 2020/2021
EBO 3.X
Easergy P5

Environment
PME 2020/2021
EBO 3.X
PAS 600 FW 1.3.1
Easergy P5 in RTU mode serial RS485

Cause
Easergy P5 (Advanced High) device has fixed frame gap when it is configured in serial RS485. And modbus frame gap configured is too small for multiple polling. So above two reasons cause communication loss or higher error rates in modbus communication in the SCADA/MASTER system.

Resolution
Based on serial device types and the number of devices connected to PAS 600, gateway serial settings to be optimized. In PAS600 default Frame delay settings is 10ms but the recommendation is 100ms when Easergy P5 is connected downstream and communicates to multiple master PME/PSO/EBO. It is strongly suggested to have Easergy P5 device on Ethernet.

NOTE:
Please refer the “[IEC] EcoStruxure Power Digital Applications Design Guide” for the communication setup recommendations. Preferred method of connection is through ethernet.
