For the Energy Meter to show kW Demand on the front display, the Energy Meter Communication Board (EMCB) must be installed.
As the Energy meter scrolls through the different values, it will flash KWD on the display.
The value that appears after KWD is the kilowatt demand. When this value is displayed there should also be a label MAX to the right side of the units kW.
Dependant upon the version of the Energy Meter, the display should scroll through the following with the EMCB installed.
This example is for a single-phase Energy Meter.
0.000 Volts
0.000 Amps
0.000 kW
KWD kW MAX
0.000 kw MAX (this value is the calculated Demand)
Note that if the meter never displays the label KWD then an EMCB is not installed and the value that has kW MAX units is the instantaneous maximum power that the unit has recorded.
