Why Control Expert V16.0 does not connect to M580 controller?

Issue:

After downloading an application to the M580 controller, it is no longer possible to connect Control Expert to the controller using either USB or Ethernet.

Answer:

In Control Expert V16.0, a new security feature called "Engineering Link Mode" has been introduced in the security tab for the controller (by default set to "Filtered").

This feature allows you to restrict connections to M580 controllers to specific protocols, enhancing the security of communications with Control Expert. The selected link mode determines which protocols and modes are available for accessing the control project in online mode, as outlined in the following table:

Therefore, based on the chosen Engineering Link Mode, please ensure that the communication protocol selected in the PLC address window is permitted.

Note: For HTTPS communications, it is necessary to whitelist the controller’s certificate in the "Certificate Whitelist" tab of the security editor.
