How to configure Syslog on Control Expert?

In this FAQ, We will explain how to configure Control Expert in order to generate some syslog messages to a syslog server.

1.Security Editor configuration

First of all, before we need to configure a “profile” inside Security Editor by following the step below:

Then, in “Policies” you need to configure as followed:

2. Control Expert configuration

In project setting of Control Expert, Go to PLC Diagnostics and enable Event Logging and set the IP address and port number used for the syslog server

3. Status

When the syslog server is not present, we got the following in status bar on Control Expert:

Syslog is in Red

syslog server not connected

When the syslog server is present, we got the following in status bar on Control Expert:

Syslog is in Green

syslog server connected

4. Syslog Server

For test purpose, we use the kiwi syslog and here the setting to configure to make it work.

In the Kiwi syslog server setup, in Input, TCP protocol need to be enable and select the right port used : 601
