Digital Input Mapping in GUI for SAGE RTU 2400 with Additional C3232 Input Boards

Issue:

Customer wants to understand how digital input (DI) points are mapped in the GUI when a SAGE 2400 RTU uses onboard inputs and additional C3232 DI boards connected via the J1 expansion bus.

Product:

SAGE 2400 RTU

C3232 Digital Input Expansion Board

Environment:

  • SAGE 2400 RTU with onboard DI points
  • Additional DI points provided by C3232 boards connected to the J1 bus
  • GUI configuration for mapping DI points

Cause:

The mapping of DI points in the GUI follows a sequential hardware-based numbering system, which can be unclear when multiple DI expansion boards are added.

Resolution:

  • Mapping Rules:
    • Baseboard DI points: 1–16
    • First DI XT card on DI expansion bus: 17–48 (32 points)
    • Next DI XT card: 49–80 (32 points)
    • Additional cards continue in increments of 32 points.

  • Important Note:
    • All DI points correspond directly to their hardware number unless some DI points are configured as counters.
    • If DI points are used as counters, subtract those from the number of STS (status points).
    • Keep track of DI points configured as counters to avoid misalignment in mapping.

By following these rules, the GUI will correctly reflect the hardware configuration for onboard and expansion DI points.
