SCADAPack Displays "Refresh Unsuccessful - Unable to Read Response File from the Device" After Factory Boot in Remote Connect
After performing a Factory Boot on a SCADAPack device and connecting through Remote Connect, the following message may be displayed during a refresh operation: "Refresh unsuccessful.
Unable to read response file from the device."
The message may continue to appear even after the Factory Boot process has completed and the device is online. In addition:
- No password prompt is displayed.
- The device refresh does not complete successfully.
- The device cannot be fully accessed through Remote Connect.
Cause
Following a Factory Boot, the SCADAPack device may not have a configured password. In some cases, Remote Connect does not automatically prompt for password creation, resulting in the refresh failure.
Resolution
Manually configure a password using the Device Lock feature in Remote Connect.
Steps to Set the Password
Below is a screenshot for SCADAPack 47x
- Connect to the SCADAPack device using Remote Connect.
- Open Device Lock.
- Select the Password option.
- Enter and confirm the desired password.
- Apply the changes to the device.
- Refresh the device.
Once the password has been successfully configured, the refresh operation should complete normally and device communication should be restored.
Additional Notes
- This issue can occur immediately after a Factory Boot.
- If the refresh continues to fail after setting the password, verify device connectivity and communication settings.
- Ensure the configured password is recorded according to your site's security procedures.
