Does Struxureware Power Monitoring Expert use Active X?

Issue
User wants to know if Struxureware Power Monitoring uses ActiveX controls

Product
ION Enterprise
Struxureware Power Monitoring (SPM) 7.0, 7.0.1
Power Monitoring Expert 7.2.x, 8.x

Environment
Web browser

Resolution
As of Struxureware Power Monitoring 7.0.1, Power Monitoring Expert no longer uses ActiveX controls. Note that this is not the case in SPM 7.0, in which Diagrams (WebReach) still uses TeeChart (an Active X component) for graphing.

Additional Notes:
- WebReach uses javascript, which is a standard scripting language for web browsers. It is unrelated to Java
- The main SPM web client (/web) uses Silverlight, which is a browser plug-in. As of PME 8.1, Silverlight is no longer needed for the login page.
- The Internet Explorer web browser uses ActiveX to load plugins like Silverlight and Flash, so ActiveX cannot be completely disabled*

PME 8 and 8.1 does support other web browsers for most web application excluding Real Time Tables and Alarms (still require silverlight). The viability of the web client in an ActiveX restricted environment is dependent on whether IT groups turn off ActiveX entirely or require that vendor applications do not make direct use of it.
