How to interpret the front panel error status code on a PM5500 - (Wrench icon)
Issue
The meter's front panel status code is displayed in hexadecimal without a full explanation of what the hexadecimal value represents.

Product Line
PM5500 series (PM5560, PM5563)

Environment
Front panel

Resolution
Use the following instructions to decipher the status code. In this example, the status reads "0021 hex".
  1. Convert the hexadecimal value to binary.
0021=0000 0010 0001
HexDecimal
  1. Determine which Bits are a "1" or high.
00000100001
Bit 11-16Bit 10Bit 09Bit 08Bit 07Bit 06Bit 05Bit 04Bit 03Bit 02Bit 01

In this example, Bit 01 and Bit 06 are high.
  1. Apply the Bitmap found in the Modbus Register List at Register 20003.
Bit 01 = Summary   ( on if any other bit is on - Maintenance Icon (Wrench) shown on HMI )
Bit 02 = RAM Failure
Bit 03 = NVRAM Failure
Bit 04 = RTC Failure
Bit 05 = Calibration Failure
Bit 06 = Clipping Detected
Bit 07 = Over-Running Energy Pulse Output
Bit 08 = Inp Mtr Diag Rate Exceeded/Backup RAM failure
Bit 09 = Lang File Mismatch
Bit 10 = Lang String Mismatch
Bit 11-16 Not Used

Therefore, this device appears to be having a clipping issue, and the customer must evaluate the voltage and current inputs to confirm they are within the meter's specification.

Note:  an error code of 0011 denotes a calibration failure.  In this scenario, the meter should be returned as part of the RMA process.
