How can we help you today?
When using a Tesys U motor starter, do I need to have a protection module (LUC*) or can I just use the power base (LUB*)?

No, you must use a protection module.

There are locating pins and contacts which synchronise the power base with the protection module. If no protection module is added, you won't be able to operate the device using the handle or A1+A2 terminals.

You must have at-least the following in order to build a Tesys U motor starter:

Power base: LUB* (standard/advanced, depending on protection module and required features)
Protection module / Control unit: LUCA* LUCL* LUCB* LUCC* LUCD* LUCM*
Control terminal block: LU9BN11* (This will come included with the power base if using the standard control power bases (LUB**) or sold separately if using the advanced control power bases (LUB**0)

Additional components may be added depending on requirements (auxiliaries, communication modules, extended handle assemblies etc.)
