What is the trip temperature threshold of the braking units (VW3A7105 & VW3A7106) and / or braking resistors for our Variable Speed Drives?

There are 2 possible topics when discussing trip temperature for our braking units:

  • If you are referring to the contact of the braking unit (highlighted in orange) then there is no value to communicate because it is not just a thermal contact with a threshold. Instead, it is a calculation of the thermal state of the IGBT inside the unit that takes into account several parameters, including temperature, current measurement, cooling etc.
  • If you are talking about the thermal contact braking resistor associated to the braking unit (highlighted in green) then the threshold depends on the resistor used. Generally in our resistors it is around 120c°.
