Can both Ethernet ports of an HMIST6 be configured with IP addresses belonging to the same subnetwork?
Issue:
The communication between a TM241CE24R controller and a HMIST6500 works using the Ethernet port 2 but not with the Ethernet port 1.
Both are configured on the same subnetwork.
Product Line:
Harmony HMIST6 family.
Resolution:
According to the provided documents:
- The Harmony HMIST6 HMI panels feature 2 Ethernet ports with Dual IP.
- The documentation does not state that both Ethernet ports can be configured on the same subnetwork.
- No explicit support for assigning both Ethernet ports to the same subnetwork is indicated.
Therefore, it is not confirmed that both Ethernet ports of a HMIST6 can be on the same subnetwork.
After further testing, the Operator Terminal Expert software will allow both ports to be configured with IP addresses on the same subnetwork.
It will be possible to transfer the project to the HMIST6. And, no error message indicating that it won't work will be displayed.
However, the communication will only work with one port (ETH1). The other port will not respond.
To have both Ethernet ports working properly, it is required to have them configured onto two different subnetworks.
They cannot be on the same subnetwork.
