Issue:
Understanding the behavior of the fault relay (R1) under different operating conditions
Resolution:
Relay R1 Functionality Overview:
- The fault relay operates on terminals R1A–R1C.
- To enable fault relay functionality, set parameter
r1 = r1F
in Menu IO. - The relay is a normally open contact.
Relay Behavior by Condition:
- When control power is not applied to terminals CL1–CL2, the relay contact is open.
- When control power is applied and no fault is present, the relay contact is closed.
- When the ATS48 detects a fault, the relay contact is open.
Special Case – Automatic Restart Enabled:
If Automatic Restart is active (ArS = ON
in Menu PrO), the relay behaves differently:
- During auto-restart attempts, the R1 contact remains closed.
- If the fault persists after all restart attempts, the R1 contact will open
