You can use DRAM & SRAM also to log your variable tag data but these DRAM & SRAM has some data storage limit like in HMIGTO5310
DRAM is 128 MB & SRAM 512 KB. Also the DRAM can`t hold data after power recycle but SRAM can hold data after power recycle.
If I conclude this then you can store data in DRAM & SRAM , but only SRAM will hold your data in case of any power failure and there would be
limit of 10 to 300 data records for SRAM while in DRAM you can store data records from 0 to 1000 per variable.
