RSTP role of the port. There are four possible roles:
- Root (by this port, the device communicates with the RSTP root, directly or by other devices. This port is a part of the shortest path to the root)
- Designated (through this port, network traffic is passed to the subnetwork. There should be only one RSTP port marked as designed for each subnetwork/segment)
- Backup (this is the backup/redundant port connected to subnetwork/segment. If the designated port loses connection, this port can become designated)
- Alternate (this is the backup/redundant connection to the root. If the root port loses connection, this port can become root)
