Why does EcoStruxure Control Expert state that there are no available licenses?

When launching multiple instances of EcoStruxure Control Expert Classic or Topology Manager, an error message appears stating:

  • EcoStruxure Control Expert Classic - "There is no license available for your current Package. But other license is available. Select the Package corresponding to your license and restart Control Expert."

  • EcoStruxure Control Expert Topology Manager - "All usage rights of the floating license on the Enterprise License Server are in use by other users."

This issue may occur when you are using a EcoStruxure Control Expert floating license. There are two methods to resolve this issue
Method 1:

Ensure that there are at least three (3) or more unused and available licenses in Floating License Manager. You can check how many license are available by performing the following steps:

  1. Launch Floating License Manager on server
  2. Click on 'Open FLEXNet License Administrator'
  3. Click 'OK' on the Required Window Credentials
  4. Click on the 'Concurrent' tab

Method 2:

Take the floating license offline.

  1. Launch License Manager on client machine
  2. Click on the Floating tab
  3. In the 'Select the license name and version you want to take offline' drop down select the EcoStruxure Control Expert License
  4. In the 'Duration (days)' enter the number of days to take the license offline
  5. Click 'Take offline'
