Life Support Policy
IEC 60601-1 and UL 60601-1 are basic safety and essential performance standards for medical electrical equipment and medical electrical systems. APC by Schneider Electric single phase and three phase products are not tested or certified to such standards (or to national equivalents).
Consequently, the APC by Schneider Electric single phase and three phase products must not be used in or with life support or direct patient care equipment, systems or applications where a failure of the APC by Schneider Electric products to perform properly could result in risk for patients, operators, or others.
Examples of life support or direct patient care equipment, systems and applications are ventilators, heart-lung machines, neonatal oxygen analyzers, nerve stimulators (whether used for anesthesia, pain relief, or other purposes), autotransfusion devices, blood pumps, defibrillators, arrhythmia detectors and alarms, pacemakers, hemodialysis systems, peritoneal dialysis systems, neonatal ventilator incubators, ventilators for both adults and infants, anesthesia ventilators, infusion pumps, blood pressure monitors, ECG machines, and pulse oximeters. They also include any other medical electrical device, equipment, system or application where a failure of the APC By Schneider Electric products to perform properly could result in risk for patients, operators, or others. This is not a complete list and advice should be sought in case of doubt.
