ATS 5G - All Serial Numbers - All Regions

Resolution:

APC by Schneider Electric 5th Generation ATS units has the capability of NPS or Network Port Sharing. This can allow multiple ATS units to be managed through a single IP address.

Being managed through a network, one of the protocols available for the ATS 5G like any APC by Schneider Electric network capable product is SNMP (SImple Network Management Protocol). This is very popular in terms of multi brand / unit management. SNMP uses a polling system of OID's to decipher what the status of a unit is and/or manage/control them which will be a perfect way to put all managed devices in a single view. EcoStuxure IT Expert and StruxureWare Data Center Expert are 2 common SNMP platforms in APC by Schneider Electric that also utilizes this protocol.

There will be some instances that an end user will experience irregularities while polling information using SNMP (i.e SNMP walk) where it can yeild 2 sets of OID data that would seem that the unit belongs to an NPS. However, it is noted that there is nothing plugged to Link ports of the unit.

An example of this polling is shown below. The 2nd line would show no data but, the unit keeps saying there is a 2nd unit connected in the series.

The image shows 2 sets of data from a working ATS and one in question in terms of SNMP walks. The 2nd line would show no data but, the unit keeps saying there is a 2nd unit connected in the series.

This can happen if a unit was temporarily connected to the link port of the ATS. ATS 5G will not forget the last connected device and will not automatically remove the grouping. As long it does not, SNMP polling will be affected.

The image shows an ATS with an NPS / Link / Cascade disconnected

In order to remedy this, the grouping must be cleared/removed. This is found by accessing the APC by Schneider Electric 5th Generation ATS and accessing STATUS then ATS then GROUP STATUS. Note that there would be times that the unit needs to be rebooted as well after removing the guests / hosts.

The following image shows the interface of an ATS 5G showing the location where groupings can be disabled / disconnected
