Bulk Create Transformer Assets Using a CSV File

If you have a large number of transformer assets to create, using the 'Bulk Create Mode' will assist in create many at one easily.

The 'Bulk Create Mode' can be found in the same place as the single asset creation (clicking the +Asset button on the transformers page).

Create New Asset

Click the 'switch to bulk create mode' button to use the bulk transformer asset creation functionality.  The mode can be switched back to single create mode at any time.

Bulk Mode

The bulk creation functionality uses a csv to generate multiple assets in one go. To ensure your csv is formatted correctly, you can download a template file that that is pre-populated with your existing transformer assets. Using the template as a guide, you can add the new assets you want to create in subsequent rows within the csv file.

The system will only create any transformer new assets you add, existing assets cannot be updated using this process. The transformer name is used to identify assets so make sure you use a unique name for each asset. Some configuration attributes require allow specific values, a reference for allowed options can be found as a downloadable attachment at the bottom of this article. For more specific information about the configuration options pleases see the configuration article.

Select CSV

After you have edited and saved your csv file to include your new assets, click the 'Choose File' button to upload the csv file containing your new assets. Once your file has been uploaded, click the 'Validate Data' button.  The system will check the csv file you have uploaded for any errors. If any errors are found, your new assets will not be created, and the errors will be displayed so that you can check the values and make necessary changes to your csv.  The image below shows an example of an error state:

Errors

Clicking on the 'back' button will return you to the file upload step where you can re-upload your csv after the errors have been corrected. If you upload was validated successfully, your assets will be created and the modal will close automatically, with the asset table refreshing to show your new assets.

Uninstall Date

Note: The install and uninstall date should match the date when the sensor was physically installed or uninstalled from a transformer.

Sensor Installation Management

  • The section can be accessed by clicking on a sensor in the list or selection manage sensor option in the overflow.

Continuity of Transformer Data

From June 2022, the Ecostruxure Transformer Expert product has been changed to be transformer asset-centric, rather than sensor-centric in terms of datasets. Therefore, any data logged for a given transformer is not lost if that transformer has a change in its sensor allocation.  The measured (and derived) data from any sensor continues to be linked with a transformer.  There will only be gaps in datasets for time periods where a transformer has no assigned sensor.

This functionality enables a replacement sensor to be installed in a transformer and data from the previous and new sensor will be automatically concatenated.
