Differential protection is one of the most critical protection relays in a power system. It's used to safeguard electrical equipment from internal faults such as internal winding short circuits and short circuits, among others.
Phase comparison relaying is a differential relaying that examines the phase angles of current flow entering one transmission line terminal to the phase angles of current flow entering all the line's remote terminals.

A distance protection relay is used to trip a circuit breaker during overloads or faults, and in low-rating circuits, it can trip on its own. Common in high-voltage AC transmission and distribution lines, it has replaced overcurrent protection as it acts faster, requires no readjustment, supports higher loading, and is less impacted by generation levels.
Schneider Electric India offers advanced distance protection relays like MiCOM P43x, Easergy P3, and MiCOM P44x. These combine proven performance with algorithms such as quadrilateral, polygon, or mho, ensuring robust fault detection.
