Issue
After an installation or reconfigure, you may need to configure PME for the specific server certificate and web page name. PME 2024 has implemented a feature where you can do this through the installer as opposed to manually in the past.

Resolution
First check the state of the current certificate. To do this, first go the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager Windows application. Look to the left of the screen at the Connections section and press the dropdown carrot to the left of the server's name and subsequently the carrot to the left of 'Sites' to find the Default Web Site. Next look at the right of the screen to the 'Edit Site' section to find the 'Bindings...' section. Click on the https option to make sure that an SSL Certificate is selected. Click on 'View...' and make sure the certificate shows as Trusted. If it is not, you can trust it following this process: Installing the trusted root certificate | Microsoft Learn.
Note: This process can only be used for PME 2024
- Open Control Panel using the Windows search bar and click on the Programs option.
- Select the Programs and Features option and search for 'Power Monitoring Expert'.
- Right click on Power Monitoring Expert and press the 'Change' option.
- In the installer window click on the 'Configure FQDN...' option.
- In the Database Accounts page, press next or type in the Password for the Windows account if using Windows Authentication.
- Make sure the SQL server information is correct.
- Check to see which IIS Roles and Features are available or not. If you would like to change this, you will have to go through Server Manager and add/retract those features.
- Next is the option to Configure the FQDN. You have two options between https and http configuration. With the https option, you will put in the domain name in the box (ex. mysampledomain.com). Next you will select the SSL certificate using the dropdown. NOTE: It is highly recommended to get an SSL certificate from CA authority to ensure cybersecurity compliance. Lastly, you can configure the Port Number used but it must align with what is set in IIS.
- Next you can Configure Service Account and Application Pool Identities. It is recommended to leave the boxes unchecked unless some changes to the account that is being run for the application pools, or the services are being made.
- After the installer has completed, click next and you can check that the installer completed successfully. To do this press the 'click here' button and wait for the installer to test each web link. If each display 'OK' after the link, then it has completed successfully. However, if it shows 'Bad Result' then something went wrong during the installation and/or something is wrong with the IIS certificate. You can check the FQDN logs for more insight or provide to a technical support representative for more assistance.
