Why do I get the error message " Controller cannot change operating mode at this stage. Verify that its application is appropriate and the Run/Stop switch or input is in the correct position." when I try to start the controller in simulation mode?

Issue:
Error message "Controller cannot change operating mode at this stage. Verify that its application is appropriate and the Run/Stop switch or input is in the correct position. If the controller is in HALTED state, you must initialize it" when starting the controller in simulation mode

Resolution:
The error message "Controller cannot change operating mode at this stage. Verify that its application is appropriate and the Run/Stop switch or input is in the correct position. If the controller is in HALTED state, you must initialize it" is cause by having a run/stop input configured in the EcoStruxure Machine Expert Basic program. You must uncheck the run/stop input in order to start/Run the PLC in simulation mode.
