Why were the security settings not updated on the HMI when downloading via USB stick using EOTE software?

Issue
Downloading to a HMI via File System (USB stick) programmed with EOTE, the security information (usernames and passwords) are not updated on runtime.

Product Line
EcoStruxure Operator Terminal Expert (EOTE)
HMIs programmed with EOTE

Cause
By default, the Runtime Data is preserved on the HMI when downloading via File System.

Resolution
1. In the Project Explorer window, go to [System Architecture] and click [Target01].

2. In the Properties window, go to [Advanced] tab ➞ [Settings] tab ➞ [Preferences] ➞ [Keep Runtime Data for file system download] and clear the [User Management] check box.

Keep Runtime Data setting location

3. Download to the HMI via File System. The panel is now set up to overwrite its run-time data during transfer. The next time you run the File System transfer operation, if the run-time data does not match the screen editing software, run-time data is overwritten.

4. Download via File System one more time to overwrite the Security Settings (usernames and passwords).
