How to Configure 6 Digit Modbus Addressing on SCADAPack x70
It may be desirable to use 6 digit Modbus addressing when using the SCADAPack x70 as a Modbus server or Modbus Client. They are both different feature sets that are similar, but require different configuration options. For both client and server options to be available in RemoteConnect, the project settings for Modbus clients/servers must be enabled.
Configuring the SCADAPack x70 as a 6 digit Modbus client
This example will review how to configure the Modbus Scanner in RemoteConnect for 6 digit addressing. The SCADAPack specific Modbus communication function blocks in logic can also be configured for 6 digit addressing. Please see the RemoteConnect help manuals and the MB_IP_MASTER or MB_SERIAL_MASTER functions for further information.
When adding a Modbus client device, the option for 5 or 6 digit addressing option is applied to all data scanners for the device. If you make the device 5 digit then add the scanners, you will need to delete THE DEVICE (and all the scanners) to create a new one that is 6 digit.
Configuring the SCADAPack x70 as a 6 digit Modbus server
For the Modbus server configuration, the SCADAPack can be configured for 5 or 6 digit addressing in the Modbus server - > Advanced configuration expansion window. This applies to all standard objects that have a Modbus address associated with them as well as the Realflo database, if using the SCADAPack for EFM.
