Customer reports that the waveform captures evidently completely miss the triggering event such as the transition to an under-current or over-voltage condition.
Further investigation reveals that the customer has set up the waveform to be triggered by a "Standard" alarm. Standard alarms on the PM8 platform have a 1 second detection cycle (see paragraph two on page 74 of the PM8 user guide. Thus, the waveform is missing the Power Quality event of interest in the waveform captures since the 1 second update potentially results in a delay of the waveform trigger of up to 60 cycles. Instead, one must use a "Disturbance" alarm to trigger the waveform.
To do this in ION Setup software, do the following:
(1) Open the "Onboard Alarms/Events" dialog box. Here you will 4 different kinds of alarms
listed, Standard, Disturbance, Digital, and Boolean.
(2) Select "Disturbance" and click "Edit".
(3) In the "Disturbance Alarm Setup" dialog box, notice that the delay is measured in cycles
(i.e. 20 milliseconds in a 50 Hz system) as opposed to the delay measurement of seconds that is
indicated on the equivalent dialog box for Standard alarms.
(4) Configure the alarm according to your preferences and then click "OK".
