Wiring a 3-wire Photocell to an 8903L electrically held contactor

Resolution:
Most standard photocells have 3 wires. Black is supply voltage, L1. White is neutral or L2. Red is the switched leg. Run the switched leg to one side of the coil and the other side of the coil to the neutral or L2. See attached diagram.
