Issue
In Runtime Manager window getting below error while runtime manager is run as service in EPO v2021–
Could not start runtime due to missing permissions
Environment
EcoStruxure Power Operation 2021
Cause
Above error observed in the ‘Runtime Manager UI’ when the windows service ‘AVEVA Plant SCADA Runtime Manager’ run using the default user account ‘NT SERVICE\Citect Runtime Manager’ also noticed that no process related to PO is running in background.
But when same run with local system account (like shown below), then runtime manager works fine without any error.
As the error is self-explanatory that issue is with insufficient permissions.
If the ‘Data’ folder is configured outside the default path (i.e C:\ProgramData\Schneider Electric\Power Operation\v2021\), then for this folder by default don’t have the required permission for the default user account ‘NT SERVICE\Citect Runtime Manager’.
Resolution
To fix the issue for the user ‘NT SERVICE\Citect Runtime Manager’, for the ‘Data’ folder located at the custom location (other than the default) go to folder properties > Security > Edit > Add > add user ‘NT SERVICE\Citect Runtime Manager’ and give ‘Modify’ access and click Apply, OK (as per below screen-cap).
After this restart the windows service ‘AVEVA Plant SCADA Runtime Manager’, open the Runtime manager UI now you can able to see all process related to PO without any error message.
