How to fix Maximum Connection Reached Error on NMC When Trying To Enter the Web Interface

This image shows Maximum Connection Reach Error on NMC When trying to Enter Web Interface

Product Line:

Network Management Card 2 (NMC2) - AP9630/AP9631 version 6.x.x above

Network Management Card 3 (NMC3) - AP9640/AP9641 version 1.x.x.x above

Environment:

All serial numbers

Cause:

The "Maximum Connections Reached" error occurs when the Network Management Card (NMC) already has 8 active Web Interface sessions (HTTP/HTTPS). When this limit is reached, no new users can connect until an existing session is closed or times out.

Resolution:

You can clear active or stuck user sessions directly from the NMC CLI. The following steps highlight how to delete active or stuck user session in Web Interface to accept new connections.

1. Open an SSH or Telnet client (e.g., PuTTY) and connect to the NMC IP address.

2. Log in using the NMC username and password.

3. Type "session" to view active connections.

4. Type "session -d [ID]" to delete a specific session (e.g., session -d 9).
Note: Repeat steps until all unnecessary web sessions have been removed.

5. Once no active sessions, exit the CLI or SSH.

6. Re-log in to the NMC Web Interface and confirm that access is restored.

Kindly make sure that "Allow Concurrent Logins" is enabled. You can enable it using web access under Configuration → Security → Session Management. Enable "Allow Concurrent Logins" and click Apply. Verify the setting is saved successfully.

Note: Allow Concurrent Logins enables multiple users or sessions to be logged in to the NMC simultaneously. When this setting is disabled, only one active login session is permitted at a time, and any additional login attempts may be denied until the existing session is terminated.

Normally, this issue can be resolved by reseating the card or rebooting it through SSH, Telnet or the pinhole button.
