PowerLogic EM3570AX – Current Readings Displayed as 0 A Due to Current Suppression Setting

Issue
A PowerLogic EM3570AX meter displays 0 A on all three current channels after the Rogowski coils are installed.

The meter remains accessible through its embedded webpages, and rebooting the meter does not restore the current readings.

The R-Coil type and 5000 A primary settings appear as read-only and cannot be changed.

Cause
The EM3570AX is designed for use with Rogowski coils. The R-Coil type and 5000 A primary settings are fixed and read-only by design.

The Ampere Suppression setting is used to prevent low-level current signals from being displayed. When this setting is configured at 1.0%, relatively low load-current values may be suppressed, causing the meter to display 0 A even though the Rogowski coils and current-input channels are operating correctly.

Resolution
Use PowerLogic ION Setup to reduce the Ampere Suppression setting:

  1. Open PowerLogic ION Setup and connect to the EM3570AX.

  2. Open the meter Setup Assistant.

  3. Open Advanced Setup.

  4. Select Amps Suppression and click Edit.

  5. Change the setting from:

    1.0% -> 0.1%

  6. Click OK, and then click Send to save the change to the meter.

  7. Verify the current measurements using the ION Setup real-time data screens or the embedded webpages.

In the reported case, current measurements appeared on all three phases after changing Ampere Suppression to 0.1%:

  • Ia: 10.043 A
  • Ib: 12.814 A
  • Ic: 7.043 A
  • Average current: 9.967 A

This confirms that the Rogowski coils and all three meter current-input channels are responding correctly.

No firmware upgrade or meter replacement is required when lowering the Ampere Suppression setting restores the expected current measurements.
