Executive summary: The Internet of Things is helping organizations to improve productivity and profitability by un-locking the power of data from the edges of their electrical distribution systems. IoT-enabled devices and innovative applications are boosting energy efficiency, electrical safety, equipment and process reliability, and power availability. However, with increased connectivity and increased IT/OT convergence comes increased cybersecurity risks. The IEC 62443 standard offers a consistent, simplified way to define the level of cybersecurity management needed to ensure a robust electrical infrastructure.
