TLC Calculations

Cause

Understanding the calculations will allow users to follow Transformer Loss Compensation measurements while testing is enabled.

Resolution
Single-phase test option lets you use a single-phase source and view three phase. When the single-phase testing is enabled, the meter will calculate the V2 Average, V4 Average and I2 average from the single-phase source according to the following calculations:

For a Wye system:

TLC Measurement for a wye system in an ION Meter
For a Delta system:

TLC Measurement for a delta system in an ION Meter

The above parameters are then used to calculate the losses according to the following:
TLC Measurement using both delta and wye system in an ION Meter
You can also connect a single‐phase source voltage input in parallel and the current in series to simulate a three‐phase source without toggling to the single-phase mode.
