Issue:
What is the procedure to change a Modbus driver in the I/O manager of Vijeo Desginer from, say for example, Modbus Plus to Modbus TCP/IP without affecting the already created variables?
Product Line:
Vijeo Designer (all versions)
Resolution:
The following procedure can be used to change a Modbus driver from Modbus Plus to Modbus TCP/IP. The same procedure can also be used when moving from any Modbus driver to another Modbus driver (ex any combination of RTU, TCP/IP, MBP). This procedure will ensure that the variables that are already created will point to the correct scan group after changing the driver.
1) Note the name and settings of the Scan Groups in the existing drivers.
2) Delete the Modbus Plus USB driver.
3) Add the Modbus TCP/IP driver and rename it to be same name as the old Scan Group.
4) Ensure the settings are all the same (IEC Syntax, Preferred Frame Length, Double Word Word Order, etc)
5) Check the variable list to ensure there are no tags with the incorrect scan group assigned.
