Unity Pro - Error when initializing programming unit (STMSDK.COM object initialization)
Issue
When launching Unity Pro the error "Error when initializing programming unit (STMSDK.COM object initialization)" is displayed.

Product line
Unity Pro, Control Expert

Resolution
This launch error can usually be attributed to access rights. One simple thing to try is as follows:

If you are not doing so already, launch Unity from a shortcut on your desktop. Before launching from the shortcut, make the following shortcut changes;
  1. Right click on the shortcut and select properties.
  2. In the Shortcut tab, select the Advanced button and then select 'Run as administrator and Apply.
  3. In the Security tab, make sure that every user and group on the list has Allow selected for everything with the possible exception of Special permissions and Apply.

After making these changes launch from the shortcut and see if it eliminates the error. If you can not edit the shortcut, you need to get access rights on your PC.

If the above did not resolve the issue, try uninstalling unity pro and deleting the files from below location before reinstalling.

“C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Schneider Electric Shared\RAT\”
