Issue:
Do you need PME administrator privilege to install and run PME?
Environment:
Power Monitoring Expert 2020
Resolution:
For installation of PME:
In addition to what is mentioned in the IT guide, during the installation you'll receive a notification by the software to use the built-in Administrator account.
However, in most cases its enough if the logged in user is just part of the administrators group. Otherwise, installation will fail to create services, logins, etc..
Also, the logged in user needs to have sysadmin rights on the SQL instance, or another SQL account with sysadmin rights could be provided to the installer at the appropriate time (mixed mode auth only). When the notification is presented, the user has the option to continue and ignore the message.
For operation of PME:
The operating user is not required to have administration rights, only be a member of the Users group. So operation shouldn't be an issue.
